Discipline From Love
Proverbs 3:11-12 says, "My son, do not despise the Lord's discipline, and do not resist His rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those He loves, as a father the son He delights in." Sometimes we get disciplines by God. He will humble us or take something away, or even allow something to happen. Instead of being mad at Him, we should be thanking Him for these things.
Just as a mother smacks a child's hand when they go to touch fire, or when a father spanks their child after they steal something, God disciplines us because He wants us to learn better. He does not do it because He has to, or because He finds joy in making us feel bad, or because He just gets angry. He does it because He wants us to learn not to do it again.
We have to accept that when we do wrong we deserve punishment. We also have to understand why. Punishment isn't just given to people who do wrong. It's a way or teaching that person not to do it again. Punishment has a reason behind it. Discipline was made for a reason. So let us not be quick to flee from discipline. Instead, let's begin to understand that God uses discipline for a loving reason, and He disciplines us for our own good. We will never be wise enough to not be considered children in the eyes of God. We will always have something to learn, so let us embrace God's love and learn instead of flee from Him and force more discipline upon ourselves.
