God's Omnipotence

God is omnipotent. Omnipotent means to have all the power. Almighty means the same thing, to have all of the power. There is not even an iota of power that is out of God's possession. Even all of our power is God's. We are borrowing it. In order to be omnipotent, two things must happen. First, all of the power in the universe must belong to you. Every ounce of power must be yours. Second, you must never loose any of that power. To be omnipotent means to have all of the power. If you were to no town even the slightest amount of power, you would not be omnipotent.

Some may say, "well I have the energy to do what I want. God doesn't have my energy," and that is false. God gave you your energy to run, to jump, to praise, and yes even to sin. He gave you your power to do whatever you want with it, but He can take it away at any time. Why can He take away power that He gave to you? Because of that. He gave it to you, but He did not give it away. We are using His power, but He did not surrender ownership of the power. It is all still His.

Because God is infinite, so is everything about Him. It is true to say that He has always been omnipotent. He has always had all of the power that ever was, ever is, and ever will be all at once. He can never loose power and His power can never diminish. He never grows tired or uses energy that could disappear. All of the power is in His hand and that is how it is. Because we are created, we cannot fully comprehend God's power. Something that is finite cannot understand something that is infinite. We must know and trust that God has all of the power all of the time and that never changes.

He must not be brought down to our level. Because He is omnipotent, He is that much greater than us and transcends us that much more.

Whenever someone is afraid of demons, I normally tell them this: "Don't worry about demons. They are lower than us in ranking. Demons are at the bottom, then angels, then us, then God." This is partially true. Yes, demons are just beneath angels because angels have God's favor, and humans are made in God's image so we have authority over them; but it was wrong of me to even put God on the list. Yes, God is above us, but He is so far above us that He transcends us. His superiority is far beyond our comprehension.

Some would say that it would be like comparing a butterfly to an angel, but that is untrue. Even though the distance between an angel and a butterfly is great, angels and butterflies are both created creatures. They both have that in common. They are both not God. As wide as the gap between them is, the gap is finite. The gap between angels and God is infinite. It is so great that there is no measurement for it. God transcends us all because He is Holy. He is as holy to angels as He is to butterflies and everything in between. God is transcendent above us.

He is so transcendent and holy because there is none like Him. Who else besides God possesses all of the power in existence? Who else but God distributes power out to all creation yet still has ownership of it all? Who else but God has the ability to create everything and not even loose power or grow tired? No one. There is no one like God; and as little as we can comprehend, we must respect and honor Him for being Holy. Until we can stop bringing God down to our level and start lifting Him up above us, we will never be able to grasp the gravity of God's holiness and glory. We must know that He is far beyond our comprehension in all ways.

                                                                                                                                         -D

God's Omniscience

God is omniscient. Omniscient means to know all. In short, God knows everything. He knows every answer to any math problem. He knows every word in every book ever written in every language. He knows every event in History. He knows how everything works, biologically, mechanically, electronically, and chemically. Deeper than this, He knows all of our secrets. He knows every thought that we have ever had. He knows everything that we have forgotten, or tried to forget. There is nothing that God does not know, and there never will be anything that God does not know, because He is omniscient. He knows everything that ever was and ever will be to know. Psalm 147:5 says, "great is our Lord and mighty in power; His understanding has no limit." This is truth.

God knows everything that ever could be to know. This cannot be over-stressed because we can never truly grasp the full concept. He knows every future, every possible outcome of every small decision that could ever be made, every bit of knowledge, and every bit of wisdom. He knows everything, academic and street wise. He knows anything that could ever be known. He knows our inside jokes, our secret hand-shakes, our deepest desires, and He knows Himself. Nothing can know an infinite being except for an infinite being. He knows everything that applies to us, and everything that we never think about, "for He looks to the ends of the Earth and sees everything under the Heavens. (Job 28:24) God knows everything that there could be to know.

Hebrews 4:13 says, "and no creature is hidden from His sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eye of Him to whom we must give account." Part of His omniscience is that He knows everything about you better than you do. Nothing is hidden from Him. He knows all things. We cannot limit His knowledge to whatever we know. We cannot say that God does not know something because we do not want Him to know, because we do not know, or because we want to know it better. He knows everything with complete understanding, and that is the end of it. Matthew 10:30 says, "but even the hairs of your head are all numbered." He knows you better than you do. Psalm 139:4 says, "even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O Lord, You know it all together." He knows us better than we know ourselves.

His omniscience is more than just knowledge. He knows every fact that there is to know, but it goes deeper. He knows every emotion and understands it better than we do because Jesus experienced them all and God created emotion. He understands every physical feeling better than we do because He is the one who created them. He understands every feeling, thought, and emotion that we have had for no reason to our eyes, because He is the only all-knowing God. He knows everything. He knows all things and that is applied to wisdom.

Because He is all knowing and God, He is also the wisest. He knows every path that every decision could ever make; so who are we to say that God has made a wrong decision? He sees every outcome that could ever be. His decisions are always the wisest and most beneficial to His plan; and His plan is for our goodness and well being. He is the smartest and wisest God ever. He is the only all-knowing and wise God.

His understanding goes far beyond us, and His wisdom knows no ends. He is the wisest and smartest God ever. He cannot be taught or surprised. News that shocks us was already known to God before the beginning. Anything that catches us off guard was known to God before the world was even made. Nothing new has ever come to God. He knows all things and always has. No one can teach Him. Who has sat God down and mentored Him? Who has corrected God and shown Him the errors of His way? Who has walked with God and shown Him a better path? No one has taught Him because He has always known everything. Not even the angels can comment on His plans. He is the only wise God.

                                                                                                                                         -D

The Unchanging Everlasting God

As I said before, God is outside of time. He is self-existent and self-sufficient. There is more to this, though. Because God exists in Himself and is self-sufficient, that means that He is everlasting. He does not have a limit on energy or any boundaries for that matter. He has complete control. He is infinite. He is infinite in His own sense, in the true sense. He is also, in His infinitude, eternal. That means that He was, is, and is to come forever.

The meaning of infinite has been shifted from meaning limitless and endless power or energy to having a large sum or a larger quantity than needed. When someone says that they have won an unlimited supply of marshmallows, we should not be able to imagine this because a limited mind cannot imagine an unlimited anything. Infinite means unlimited in quantity. God is infinite, meaning that everything about Him is limitless. His grace and mercy are infinite. That means that no matter what we do, we can never run His grace and mercy dry because His grace and mercy cannot be numbered or measured. It is infinite and cannot be diminished at all. His love for us is infinite and will never decrease. His love for us was so limitless that He left His power, left His royalty, became a complete looser in the eyes of the world, and died for those who spit on Him, beat Him, called Him every name under the son, and would still reject Him even after He rose three days later. God is infinite. His love did not decrease or run dry on the cross. His mercy and grace did not run dry with Moses or Abraham. God's infinitude never diminishes.

Nothing about God can be measured or counted. If something can be measured or counted, that something is not truly infinite. Something that is infinite cannot be truly compared either. There is only one infinite source because infinite means that there are no bounds. No two infinite things can exist apart because they would limit each other, so there can be only one true infinite thing.

Along with His infinitude, He is also everlasting. To compliment God's infinitude is His eternal being. God is outside of time, which means that He is outside of time like things. He cannot change. He is eternal the way that He is. His love for us did not diminish at the cross, and neither did it change. His grace and mercy for Moses and Abraham did not decrease when they fell short, and neither did His grace or mercy change. God is God and that cannot be changed. Created things change. God never changes.

He knew everything before time started. He knew the end before the beginning, and He lives in every moment of time all at once. He does not change, nor is He growing tired. His is wise beyond change. He loves us as much now as He did when He formed us in our mother's womb and as much as He does at His reunion with us in Heaven. Time does not touch Him, and neither does change. Change is something that man does. God is eternally the same and eternally existent. Change takes place over time, and God is not touched by it. There is no room for error when it comes to God's immutability and eternity.

If we were to think of God as someone who changes in power or attribute, we would no longer be worshiping God. We would be worshiping something that can change, something that time controls, and something that is no greater than we are. What hope is there in that?

He base our hope in God's ability to stay the same, to love us the same, to give us the same infinite grace and mercy, and to always be the same. If He were to ever change, He would become human like us, and He would be able to take away His grace and mercy, and His love would be conditional and useless to us. A God who's power or attributes can change is just a glorified human.

God does not change. He does not become any less in any sense. He does not grow tired. He does not increase in anything, because what is an increase of infinity? It is illogical. He does not change on us or grow different. He is God. He is the same as He was before time, is now, and will be after time. He is outside of time and is always the same. God cannot change, but we can, and it is our ability to change that makes us human. It is our ability to change that can draw us out of our sinful nature and change from prideful to humble. Over all, we depend on God's infinitude and unchanging attributes to help us change and grow. His inability to change is what makes Him God.

                                                                                                                                         -D

God in Himself

God is far beyond our comprehension. As humans, we like to take things and put them into boxes and equations to understand them. That is fine for created things, such as chemistry and literature and math, but never for God. To bring God down to human level is to strip Him of who He is, and that creates a false image which attacks the name of God. We must be willing to understand that God is beyond our understanding. He is God alone, and that has many meanings. Yes, it means that there is no other god with Him; but it also means that there is nothing else in His category. There is nothing else like Him. One thing that makes God different from everything else is that God exists in Himself and needs nothing. This means that nothing created God and nothing keeps Him running. He existed on His own and always has, and He does not need to rest or energize like we do. He is God alone.

After running a few miles, one would become hungry. We, as humans and anything created, depend on something outside of us to keep us sufficient. We must rely on food and rest. If we do not sleep or eat, we can die. God does not need that. He can separate seas and create pillars of fire and not grow tired. All of the power is in His hand. He constantly gives and never needs to receive. It is part of what makes Him perfect. If there was ever a thing that God needed, He would not be perfect, and we could not worship or honor an imperfect god. There is nothing that God needs.

God also was not created. He has always existed since before time began. He is in all things at once. He exists in all spaces and times at once. He was in the beginning just as well as He was in the end, experiencing and seeing it all at once. This is one that is difficult for many to comprehend because it is so different from us. We experience things in a sequence of events, but we exist in time. God exists outside of time and does not have a beginning or an end. He is unaffected by time. He does not have a beginning, because only created things have beginnings. He is not created. He is outside of time in ways that we cannot fully understand.

When someone asked me, "who made God?" I usually give something along these lines. "God did not need to be created. He always existed. No matter what you believe in, something had to always exist. If you believe in the Big Bang Theory, the particles that created the explosion had to always exist. If you believe something created God, that thing that created God would have always had to exist. Something had to be outside of time in order to create it. Something had to always exist in order to create us. It is impossible for nothingness to produce anything, much less everything. It is logically impossible. So, something had to always exist, and that something had to have enough power to create everything that exists." Look at John 1:3 says, "all things were made by Him; and without His was not any thing made that was made."

God is that something that always has existed. He is outside of time and that is a truth about Him. He is outside of limits because He runs on Himself. He needs nothing. Isaiah 40:28 says, "do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the creator of the ends of the Earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and His understanding no one can fathom." God was not created, He always existed. God never grows tired or needs anything, He is perfect. To think any less of Him would be blasphemy, and to know that you could not understand it all would be humility. God is beyond our comprehension.

                                                                                                                                         -D

Incomprehensible

The definition of incomprehensible is something that cannot be understood or comprehended. God is incomprehensible. He is far different from us. The definition of Holy means to be different, set apart, or completely unlike anything else. God is unlike us in any way, shape, or form because He is holy and we cannot understand what is holy.

If we look at imaginary creatures, you will always see something that you can identify. Their is always going to be something familiar because no one can create something out of pure nothing. This is not a challenge to see if you have a great imagination. What I am saying is that anything that we can imagine has some familiar root to something that we know or can comprehend. A vampire is a human mixed with a bat, Wolverine from X-men is just human with metal elements added in and some animal instincts. Zeus from Greek mythology is human like, but with super powers. Everything that has been imagined is either a root understood thing that was twisted or combined with other things to create something new. The imagination is powerful, but the mind cannot comprehend something it has never seen and cannot understand.

What we cannot understand and do not know is basically the unknown. How do we understand the unknown? By using what we know to understand it. When in my Early American English class, I read many diary logs and letters written by the Puritans and Quakers. Whenever they spoke of the Native Americans and something that they had, they used words like "like" or "similar to" to give off the message. Because they were unfamiliar to the Native American's ways, they related what they saw to what they knew. That is what humanity has always done. When we do not understand something, we fall back on our own understanding to relate things. Unlike God, the Puritans and Quakers were able to understand the things of the Native Americans after time because they were able to learn how to comprehend one another. They were both human and in the same world. God, on the other hand, is far above us and we cannot truly or fully comprehend Him ever.

God has given us tools and bits of information to begin to understand who He is. We will never be able to understand Him fully here on Earth, but we have enough to satisfy us if we look carefully at what He has said. He is above our nature. He is unlike anything in the world. Yes, man was made in the likeness of God; but that does not mean that we are miniature versions of God. We were not make in the exact likeness of God, and to claim so would be total disrespect to God. We are able to be tempted, God is not. He can be everywhere, we cannot be. He has all power, we are dependent on Him.

The thing that makes Him different than everyone and everything else is that He is in a category all of His own. He is the creator and we are the created. All we know are created things. Naturally, we desire to understand, and that is how we can disrespect God, by bringing Him down to a "created" level. We ask, "where did God come from," which is fine to ask because we should desire to know about God; but when we say that something has created God, we insult Him and attack His name and His self-sufficiency. When we try to understand God as a created creature, we will ultimately fail. We must realize that God is the creator and not the creation.

The cool thing about God is that we cannot comprehend Him. He is far beyond any image that we can imagine or any words that we can describe Him with. He is far beyond us. Some may say, "well we know the attributes of God." Yes, we know some, but He is far beyond those simple attributes. He is different than us, and is not just limited to words and titles. He is God alone. He is in a different category in Himself.

In Ezekiel 1:1-28, when Ezekiel had a vision about seeing Heaven, He could not describe what He say. He had to fall back on the words of the created. He related everything to "likeness" or "the appearance of" for everything because what he saw was wholly different and unlike anything that he had ever experienced before. We must realize that we know nothing about who God truly is. We  know human comprehension of Him, but we cannot limit Him. He is far beyond us and we must allow that the be the way we see Him. If we were to limit Him or bring Him down to our level, it would be total blasphemy. We must allow Him to escape our imagination and our understanding because He is far beyond us. We can never understand Him until we care face to face with Him.

                                                                                                                                          -D

Who are you seeking?

So many times lately I have been hearing, "where is God?" and "why hasn't He answered this prayer?" or "why hasn't He spoken to me yet?" and so much more. Looking into this, most of the time I hear God telling me something along the lines of, "they are not seeking Me yet." How can we get answers from God if we are not talking to Him? How can we pray and expect results when we were not praying to God?

Now, before I begin, I would like to make a clarification because someone will think, "well God is easily insulted." In fact, that is not true. God is patient and merciful. He is not easily offended, we are simply rude. Yes, we are rude to God. We do not always give Him the respect and reverence that He deserves. It is so easy for us to distort the image of God. If we are not worshiping, praying to, and talking to the true God, we are not going to get all that we ask for.

How can we not be worshiping or praying to the right God? Christian is Christian, right? Yes, this is true. This is not a debate on denomination. If you are a follower of Christ, you are a follower of Christ; but there in can be the problem. Are we following the one and only Christ or our own image of Him? So many times I have heard people say things about God that are not Biblical truths, and can even be blasphemous. These ideas about God usually come from past experiences of misinformation. If a girl is neglected by her father and is involved in the church, she could learn to love Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, but may view God the Father as distant and unloving because of the issues that she had with her own father. This can mess up her entire relationship with Christ. Or, for example, if someone were to tell you that the Trinity is separating God into three different people with three different roles, that would be false information as well. The Trinity says that God is three in one; and it may be difficult to imagine because God is beyond our comprehension; but as much as we like to put the three into three different roles, they all work together to do everything. We, as humans, cannot contain God and make Him less than who He is in order to better understand Him because that is destroying His name and taking away from Him. That is how we create a new god from our imagination.

If someone asks me, "why hasn't God brought me a girlfriend," I usually will say, "because it is not your time yet. You or her still have things to work on. God will bring you together when you are both ready and the time is right." If the answer is, "alright" or something like that, they are respecting God's perfect plan and are willing to submit to it; but if the answer is something along the lines of, "but I need a girlfriend and I can only feel God's love when I have a girlfriend," they have just shown a distorted image of God by saying that God is only present in other people and cannot have a relationship with that person alone. That person also says that God is not able to be with him unless He is using a person, saying that God depends on people. This also destroys the image of God.

Deuteronomy 4:29 says, "but if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find Him if you look for Him with all your heart and with all your soul." You will find God, and the answers, when you look for Him with all your heart and soul. This is more than just having a moment during praise and worship or spending a second in prayer, not that either of those are bad at all. What we need to do is seek God, the true God, with all of our heart and be willing to accept who He is not not try to change His name. We must spend time learning about Him through the Word, through prayer, and through testing what we know. We must be willing to say that God is bigger than we can truly comprehend and loves me enough to have a perfect plan for me. He sees more than I see and He knows more than I know, so I cannot limit Him to my knowledge and understanding. Isaiah 55:8-9 says, "'For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,' says the Lord. 'For as the Heavens are higher than the Earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.'" God is bigger than us in every way, and different than us in every way. He is not like us. We cannot take God and simplify Him into our own understanding to control. He is beyond us.

We must take what little of God we can understand and respect it. He is God, not a genie. He is not someone we go to with a wish list and ask for things. We respect Him. He is God. Matthew 7:7 and Luke 11:9 both say, "ask and it will be given to you, seek and you will find it, knock and the door will be opened to you." If we seek God for answers about Himself and try to find out who He truly is, He is sure to answer us; but we must come with an open heart ready to learn who He is and accept Him. God will not answer you if you come to Him with a heart that says, "tell me about You and I will decide if I want to accept it or not." When you seek God, truly seek after the one true living God and nothing less. When you seek Him with all of your heart, He will answer you.

                                                                                                                                         -D

Trusting God

Sometimes, we hear the phrase, "trust in God," or "trust in Jesus," and never truly know what it means. What does it mean to trust in God? Sometimes we try to trust in God but it just doesn't work out. Other times, we do not even know how to begin to trust in God. How do you trust in God?

In order to trust in God, we need to know how to do this. No matter how many times someone says, "trust in God," sometimes we just don't understand how. How do I trust in God? How do I do it? The strange part is, you just do it. Now, when I first had that revelation I said, "alright, so how do I just 'do it'?" It is simpler than it sounds. You just put your trust in God, even when you do not know how to. You trust Him, even when you are afraid or scared or nervous to do so. We have all gone on roller coasters or jumped into someone's arms. We do not always feel easy about it, but we trust that everything will go well just this one time. Just as a child jumps into their father's arms, trusting him to catch us; we must do the same. We have to take a leap into our Heavenly Father's arms and trust that He will catch us. No matter how scary it may seem, we have to first trust by putting it into practice.

We have to be willing to make that jump, and sometimes we have to jump out of our security and into the unknown. We have to jump away from the world and into God's arms. In God's arms, we cannot see the expensive car, the big promotion, or our name in lights. We have to trust what God says, that He will bring us greater joy. The money and the clothes will last a life time, but God's happiness will last millions of times longer than our life, and His happiness is so much more fulfilling. We have to trust that when we jump from the world to Him, He will have everything prepared and knows what is best for us.

The last, and most important, step is the Holy Spirit! The Holy Spirit is our Helper and our Provider. He will help us make the transition and provide all the courage that we need. As Christians, the Holy Spirit is inside of us at all times. We can call upon Him to help us make the jump. The Holy Spirit will always be here for us.

We can trust in God because He will never go back on His word. Isaiah 26:3 says, "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You." We can trust in Him to be worth the jump because He is greater than the world. Psalms 32:10 says, "many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord's unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in Him." The best benefit, is that when you trust in God, He will show you that you can trust Him again. He will bring you so much peace and joy that you will be able to trust in Him again and again and again. When you trust in Him, there is no safer place to be. Isaiah 12:2 says, "Surely God  is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord Himself, is my strength and my defense; He has become my defense."

It may seem scary to trust Him at first, but once you take the leap of faith, there will be no greater joy and no safer place than in His arms. All you have to do is ask the Holy Spirit to help you to trust in God and let the Holy Spirit do His job. The rest He will help you do. God will give you no reason to regret trusting in Him.

                                                                                                                                         -D
